South Greene Competes in Dumplin Valley Classic at Jefferson County
Dandridge, Tenn – South Greene High School’s track and field athletes showcased their talents at the Dumplin Valley Classic hosted by Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, delivering impressive performances across various events.
The highlight of the meet was South Greene’s girls’ 4 x 800-meter relay team, comprised of Natalie Freise, Samantha Birdwell, Ava Clark, and Emma Cutshall. The quartet not only clinched a commanding victory but also set a new personal record, crossing the finish line in first place.
In individual events, Zackriah Duncan demonstrated his speed and endurance, securing second place in the 400 meters. Likewise, Nolan Weems soared to a second-place finish in the pole vault, showcasing his prowess in the event.
Heath Norton exhibited strength and precision in the shot put, claiming second place with a formidable performance. Alexa Gabbard showcased her versatility, finishing second in the triple jump and third in the long jump.
Natalie Foshie’s efforts in the discus earned her a commendable fourth-place finish, contributing valuable points to South Greene’s tally. Madison Darnell also etched her name in the school record books, securing fourth place in the shot put with a new record.
Natalie Freise continued to impress, finishing fourth in the 400 meters and sixth in the long jump. Emma Cutshall also showcased her speed, claiming sixth place in the 400 meters.
In the field events, Zeke Rader’s efforts in the pole vault earned him a respectable sixth-place finish, while Noah Case’s performance in the 800 meters secured him a seventh-place finish.
SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH
Greeneville competes in Tri Cities Track Classic at Science Hill
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Greeneville High School’s track and field athletes showcased their skills at the Tri-Cities Track Classic on Saturday hosted by Science Hill High School, with over 20 schools participating in the competition.
The Greeneville boys’ team secured a commendable sixth-place finish overall, while the Lady Devils finished ninth in the team standings. Science Hill emerged as the dominant force, claiming the team championship titles for both the boys and girls.
Despite tough competition, Greeneville athletes excelled throughout the meet, achieving an impressive 38 personal best performances and setting 8 seasonal bests during the day’s events.
In the girls’ events, standout performances included Jacey Goodwin’s fourth-place finish in the high jump, clearing a personal record height of 4 feet 10 inches. Olivia McClintock impressed in the 200-meter dash, securing sixth place with a personal best time of 27.00 seconds. Additionally, the girls’ relay teams showed strength, with the 4×200-meter relay team finishing second and the 4×800-meter relay team claiming second place as well.
For the boys, Zayden Anderson shone brightly, capturing first place in the triple jump with an impressive leap of 43 feet 3 inches. Trey Bailey’s efforts in the 1600-meter run earned him an eighth-place finish with a personal record time of 4:48.92. The boys’ relay teams also performed well, with the 4×200-meter relay team securing fifth place and the 4×800-meter relay team finishing fifth.
Greeneville’s track and field program demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the Tri-Cities Track Classic, setting the stage for continued success as the season progresses.
