A Greene County woman reported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department she was scammed out of more than $20,000 after meeting a man online.
The Old Kentucky Road South woman first began communicating with the suspect about a year ago. She said the suspect told her he worked on an oil rig in Scotland and needed money to get home.
The victim sent the man Apple pay cards, cashiers checks through her bank, and CashApp. The woman estimated in the report that she has sent the suspect more than $20,000 during the past year.
