Arraignment for the Mosheim man who fired shots at officers during a Tuesday night standoff will be held December 22nd
38-year-old Chad Eric Hefner had originally been scheduled for a court appearance Friday which was delayed.
Hefner of Blue Springs Parkway remains held on $211,000 total bond on charges of attempted second degree murder, possession of a firearm during a felony, vandalism and burglary in connection with the incident. He has a Court appointed attorney.
MOSHEIM POLICE RELEASE REPORT
At approximately 1633 hours an investigation at 7113 Blue Springs Parkway in Mosheim for a burglary and theft of firearms. During this investigation it was alleged that Chad Eric Hefner age 38 had broken into the address above and taken several firearms. The witness stated that Mr. Hefner had been drinking and using narcotics and made statements that he was going to kill people. The subject refused to come out of the home and barricaded himself in the home. Several attempts to negotiate with Mr. Hefner were unsuccessful. Mr. Hefner broke the window out of the rear of the home and began throwing items out the window while screaming at officers. Several gun shots were heard inside the home from the broken window. After several hours the standoff came to an end using less than lethal tactics causing Mr. Hefner to exit the home, where he was placed in custody.
MCCAMEY HEARING MONDAY
It was the second standoff between a suspect and officers in the past two weeks in Greene County. On Nov. 28, a Knoxville man surrendered peacefully after firing at officers and refusing to come out of a home on Warrensburg Road before finally surrendering. Following his initial court appearance the following week, Todd McCamey is due back in court Monday.
