Long time Greene County educator and Principal Dr. Wade McCamey, the owner of Pristine Point Tree Farm in Greeneville was honored as 2025 Tennessee Tree Farmer of the Year. Pristine Point Tree Farm includes 124 acres and has been certified in the Tennessee Tree Farm program since 2019.
Dr. McCamey’s goals for Pristine Point Tree Farm include timber production. Pristine Point also provides great recreation and social activities for the McCamey family. The multiple use concept features an “off the grid” solar kiln which supports lumber drying. Dr. McCamey regularly uses his own portable sawmill to salvage damaged or fallen trees. He and his family have also built primitive furniture from the cedar, walnut, cherry and pine harvested from the Tree Farm.
The Tennessee Forestry Association along with the Tennessee Tree Farm Committee are very proud to honor Dr. Wade McCamey as the Tennessee Tree Farmer of the Year. Dr. McCamey was presented with a plaque, other signage and a chainsaw donated by Stihl at the TFA annual convention in Chattanooga on September 4. In Tennessee, there are 451 Tree Farms representing 189,073 acres.
The Tennessee Tree Farm program provides for a local forester to write a forest management plan at no cost. The Tennessee Tree Farm program is part of the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) which is the oldest family forest certification program in the U.S., established in 1941. It aims to promote responsible forest management practices among private landowners.
The program is endorsed by the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), which enhances its credibility and opens market opportunities for certified wood products.
