Several Greene County law enforcement agencies will receive a share of $33.5 million in federal grant funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Funds for police traffic services for multiple violations were awarded to the Greeneville, Mosheim and Tusculum Police Departments along with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. Greeneville will receive $22,000, Mosheim nearly $20,000, Tusculum $20,000 and Greene County $60,000 in two separate grants.

In addition, the Tennessee District Attorney General Third Judicial District will receive almost $222,000 for driving under the influence prosecution.

Funds will be distributed to more than 400 agencies across the state for impaired driving enforcement, emergency medical services equipment, teen driver safety education, and child passenger safety. Grant funds are awarded to applicants who meet the required criteria.
