A Kingsport Highway woman reported a scam to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department this week that began with a phone call around four months ago.
The woman’s husband received a phone call at that time saying he won $7 million and a Mercedes-Benz. He was told he had to pay to get the vehicle out of storage to claim it as his prize. Since then, withdrawals totaling $12,000 have been made from the victims’ accounts.
The woman recently went to the banks and stopped any further transactions from being made.
According to the report, the victim’s husband has since passed away since the incidents started occurring.
