Nashville, TENN
Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, has
appointed State Rep. David B. Hawk, R-Greeneville, as chairman of the Transportation
Subcommittee for the 114th General Assembly.
“Rep. David Hawk has been a steadfast advocate for improving Tennessee’s
infrastructure and transportation systems,” Speaker Sexton said. “As chairman of the
Transportation Subcommittee, David’s leadership will be crucial in advancing projects
and policies that promote economic growth, ease congestion, and improve access
across the state. He will also play a key role in rebuilding roadways in northeast
Tennessee.”
The 10-member subcommittee is responsible for overseeing state laws related to
infrastructure, including highways, bridges, railroads, and various forms of
transportation—air, bus, and vehicle. The subcommittee also handles regulations
concerning the use of highways, railroads, airways, and waterways, as well as the
Tennessee Department of Safety.
“I am honored to be appointed chairman of the Transportation Subcommittee and
excited to continue advocating for improvements to Tennessee’s infrastructure,” Hawk
said. “Our transportation systems are vital to the state’s economic success. I look
forward to working with my colleagues to advance projects that reduce congestion,
improve access, and enhance the safety of our roadways, especially in northeast
Tennessee. Together, we can ensure our infrastructure supports growth and meets the
needs of all Tennesseans.”
Hawk, first elected in 2003, is serving his eleventh term representing House District 5. In
addition to chairing the Transportation Subcommittee, he will serve on the Finance,
Ways, and Means Committee, Private Acts Committee and Transportation
Committee during this legislative session.
