The National Weather Service forecasts that this week will observe arctic temperatures with day time highs never topping 30 and night time lows never reaching 10.
With arctic temperatures like these Rhonda Castro from the CARE Center says that the center will be open everyday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at which time everyone at the center will be moved to the shelter at Asbury United Methodist Church from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. The shelter has been open for a few weeks and will remain open every night that the temperature is 32 degrees or below.
Castro says everything is provided and anyone in need of a warm place to stay or a hot meal is welcome.
Transportation is provided back and forth from the center to the shelter. If anyone needs to be picked up please call the center at 423-620-9786.
If you would like to donate food to the center, casseroles, pizza, and hot meals are always welcomed. Call the center at 423-549-3259.
