SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — Next week, the TSSAA State Golf Championships will tee off at the Sevierville Golf Club, with Greene County well represented by two teams and seven individual participants.

The Chuckey-Doak Lady Knights, fresh off their Region 1 small school title, lead the county’s contingent. The Lady Knights captured the regional crown by an impressive 18 strokes, with standout Layla Fox securing the tournament’s medalist honors. Fox, joined by teammates Kyleigh Crawford and Harley Thompson, will aim to continue their success at the state level.

For South Greene, Kolben Gregg will make his third consecutive appearance as an individual at the State Championships. Gregg earned his spot with a solid performance in the Regional Championships, extending his run of qualifying for the prestigious tournament.

The Greeneville Lady Devils will also make history at the tournament, competing for the first time as large school Regional Champions. It’s the Lady Devils’ first regional title since 2014, and their victory came in dramatic fashion, edging Dobyns-Bennett in a playoff on the first hole. Brylee Catron, who shot an 83 to finish second individually in the Regional, will be joined by teammates Kylee Renner (84) and Kamryn Renner (85) as they compete in Sevierville.

The TSSAA State Golf Championships promise to be a competitive showcase, and Greene County’s golfers will look to make their mark.
