The Greeneville City Council meets Tuesday afternoon and will hold three Public Hearings, one for the second and final reading to increase water and sewer service rates for the Greeneville Water Commission, another for a second and final reading for amendments to the 2024 Fiscal Year budget, and the third will be to consider approving an ordinance on second and final reading to adopt the 2025 Fiscal Year budget.
The council will also consider approving the purchase of personal protective equipment and a utility vehicle for the Greeneville Fire Department. There are special event sign requests for Lyrics on the Lawn, held each Thursday evening in July, and for the Smokey Mountain Super Pull at the Greene County Fairgrounds June 21st and 22nd.
Another item to be considered is a Special Event Application to close a portion of Depot Street from Main to Cutler and a portion of Irish Street from Church to Summer for the GM Truck Show After Party on August 17, 2024. There will be a continued discussion with the Jessee Law Office regarding an agreement to join a lawsuit against parties responsible for the wrongful distribution of prescription insulin or the generics.
Furthermore, the council will consider appointments for Town vacancy on the Industrial Development Board of Greene County for a six-year term (Applicants: Paige Mengel, Shane Hite, and John Loven) as well as two applicants to the Greeneville Historic Zoning Commission (Applicants: Jeff Farr, William Sherrill, Brent Woolsey, Thomas Lane, Joseph Aldridge, and Sharon Shade).
