A structure fire was reported on the 3000 block of Rheatown Road Sunday afternoon.
Deputies responded to the scene to investigate a suspicious fire. When speaking with the complainant, they stated smoke was seen coming from the back of the residence. According to report, the home was just sold and the seller stated a man has been living there for about 24 years. He explained he has not been able to get the man to leave so a note was left on his car, stating the home had been sold and he had to leave the property.
The new homeowners spoke with deputies and said they planned on tearing down the home as it was in bad condition. Deputies did not enter the home due to the roof of the structure allegedly being unstable and unsafe to perform an investigation.
The man living in the home was confronted by deputies at his work place and stated he was at the house earlier that morning before going to work but there were no mishaps that he knew of at the residence. He did state there was probably a box fan left on in the house. According to the report, the origin and cause of the fire is undetermined.
