A man evading the Greene County Sheriff’s Department was found and arrested near Gass Drive and Emory Road yesterday afternoon.
The suspect, later identified as Andrew Shelton of Chuckey, was driving on East Ocean Boulevard when a deputy noticed his vehicle to have a switched license plate out of Virginia. A traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle stopped inside the Ravenwood Mobile Home Park. After deputies exited the vehicle, Shelton took off and turned onto Bainey Broyles Street. He drove through mobile homes and went out the back of the Park across a field. Witnesses pointed the deputies toward Shelton’s location. The vehicle was found nearby on Longview Drive abandoned, parked in front of a gate leading to the woods.
A Greeneville Police Officer spotted a male walking down Emory Road and pulled over. The man was confirmed to be Andrew Shelton after an ID was found in the abandoned vehicle. He was showing a warrant for violation of probation and was arrested. A passenger that was first seen in the vehicle with Shelton was never located.
