A Greeneville woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision early this morning along the East Andrew Johnson Highway.

The wreck was reported around 12:30 near the new traffic light at Serral Drive. According to Greeneville police, both vehicles were heading westbound on 11-E. The driver of the first vehicle, 36-year-old Brenton Ward of Parrottsville, was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup and saw a minivan approaching at a high speed from the rear.

Ward said there were no lights on the Dodge Caravan, and he attempted to move out of the way but the minivan struck his truck in the rear.

The driver of the minivan, 48-year-old Amber Fellers of Greeneville, was flown by Highlands to Johnson City for treatment of suspected major injuries. A passenger in the Silverado, 34-year-old Kelsey Ward, was checked out by EMS after hitting her head on the column between the doors of the truck but refused transport.

Both vehicles sustained major damage and were towed from the scene. Greeneville police, fire and rescue squad all responded to the crash.
