A Debusk Road woman reported on Thursday being scammed after selling items on Facebook Marketplace.
The victim said the suspect sent her a check for $1,000. The check cleared and went into her bank account. The man then emailed the victim and told her to refund him $700 or legal action would be taken.
The suspect then sent another $1,000 check. He emailed the victim again and told her to deposit the money into multiple Pay Pal accounts. The second check then bounced.
No information on the suspect was provided in the report filed with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
