A welfare check was conducted Sunday near Roaring Fork Road due to a female who seemed disoriented and was standing in the middle of the road.
The female, identified as Kristen Bales of Greeneville, was lying on the bench at Bales Chapel Church when deputies arrived. She was unable to state where she was coming from or going, but reportedly told officers she was walking for two days and was soul searching. She then allegedly switched up her story and said she got into an altercation with a family member and was dropped off at Modern Meats.
According to the report, she was given a sobriety test. At that time she struggled keeping her eyes open and could not keep still. She also tried to give the deputy the same sobriety test. Bales denied taking any drugs or alcohol when asked.
Due to appearing disoriented, her inability to perform well during a sobriety test, and conflicting stories, deputies arrested her for public intoxication.
