The Caney Branch Volunteer Fire Department has some Winter Safety Tips:
They advise all who fear that their pipes will freeze, if not insulated, to open the faucets and wrap the exposed pipe with insulation if possible.
Make sure your batteries in flashlights/smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are updated.
If using candles during an outage, be sure to place in the center of your table or counter, and keep away from anything that can catch fire. Also keep away from children and animals.
Keep space heaters away from anything combustible and where children can not access them.
