Greeneville finishes 3-2 in the East Tennessee Classic at Winged Deer Park in Johnson City. On Saturday, the Lady Greene Devils lost to Dobyns-Bennett 5-2 on a Grand Slam by the Tribe in the final inning. Then, rolled past Volunteer to advance to the bracket Championship game. In the Championship game against Morristown West, the game was sent into an international tie breaker and with Greeneville leading 6-3, the Trojans plated 4 runs to win 7-6. Over the last two days of the tournament, Kyla Jobe went 7-8 with 3 doubles and a triple.

Knoxville, Tn – In a highly anticipated matchup at the Bearden Invitational, Greeneville’s soccer squad showcased their resilience and firepower, clinching a decisive 4-2 victory over Science Hill on Sunday evening.
The Greene Devils came into the showdown riding the momentum of a commendable performance in their previous matches. They kicked off the tournament with a resounding triumph against Alcoa, unleashing a barrage of goals to secure a 3-1 win on Friday. However, they stumbled in their encounter against Maryville, succumbing to a 2-0 defeat on Saturday.
Eager to redeem themselves, Greeneville ignited the pitch with fervor from the get-go. In the 17th minute, Austin Beets seized a prime opportunity, capitalizing on a precise pass from David Fisher to blast a 15-yard shot past the Hilltopper goalie, propelling Greeneville to an early 1-0 advantage.
The second half witnessed a burst of offensive prowess from Greeneville. Just two minutes in, Brody Inscore seized upon a defensive lapse, skillfully maneuvering around the Hilltopper goalie to extend Greeneville’s lead to 2-0.
Though Science Hill managed to claw back with a penalty kick, narrowing the deficit to 2-1, Greeneville remained undeterred. Following a foul in the box, Austin Beets showcased his clinical precision once again, notching his second brace of the tournament from the spot, further cementing Greeneville’s lead at 3-1.
Yet, Science Hill refused to concede defeat easily just two minutes later, capitalizing on a rebound off Greeneville keeper Tanner Myers to bring the scoreline to 3-2. With tensions running high, Greeneville’s David Fisher rose to the occasion, sealing the deal with a well-executed chip over the keeper with a mere 17 seconds remaining, securing the final 4-2 victory for Greeneville.
Throughout the intense clash, Greeneville’s offensive prowess was on full display, amassing an impressive 18 shots, with nine finding the target. In contrast, Science Hill found themselves stifled by Greeneville’s resilient defense, led by Brandon Rogers and his back line teammates, Liam Polte, Connor Stayton, Griffin Gricunas, Ricqui Torres, and Tanner Myers, managing just nine shots, with five testing the Greeneville keeper.
The Greene Devil win is their first win against Science Hill in the regular season since before 1995 or in the last thirteen meetings with the Hilltoppers. It is just the second win all time against Science Hill.
With this triumph, Greeneville advances to a 3-2 record for the season, poised to build upon their success in the upcoming fixtures. Their next challenge awaits as they prepare to host their new District rival, Claiborne on Tuesday, March 26th, at Burley Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
