Due to the recent weather causing frozen pipes and leaks in scattered areas, Chuckey Utility District has advised residents to conserve water as much as possible.
Radio Greeneville spoke with Utility Manager Tyson Lamb, who said crews have been working around the clock repairing issues that were reported. More than 4800 households are supplied water from Chuckey Utility District, with 13,000-14,000 actual residents. Water lines are breaking and customers have experienced low water pressure and outages. He asks for anyone who has any leaks to report them to 639-6362 as soon as possible.
Lamb stated that due to some water outages in the Jonesborough area, the water supply for the south central area has been cut off.
There could be multiple properties including vacant properties that have a break in the line, with property owners unaware of the break. All are advised to conserve water, if there is a leak shut water off immediately, and let the water commission department know as soon as possible. Water department crews can assist with shutting off water supplies at the main.
