Washington County Woman Charged With Leaving Six Kids At Home

A Washington County woman was charged with DUI and child neglect after she allegedly left six children at home unattended.

On Saturday morning, deputies found a vehicle parked at the Roadrunner Market on West Jackson Boulevard in Jonesborough with a women unresponsive behind the wheel. The woman appeared to be intoxicated, and it was discovered that she had left six children between the ages of 2 and 14 home unattended for an extended amount of time.

Deputies went to the home of 33-year-old Michelle Meyer and remained on scene until the Department of Children Services could respond.

Meyer has been charged with driving under the influence, three counts of child neglect and three counts of aggravated child neglect. Her bond was set at $64,000 ahead of a court appearance this afternoon.
