If you bail your daughter out of jail, make sure she’s actually in jail first.
An Afton man reported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department Friday he had been called by a person who said they needed money to keep his daughter out of jail. The man reports he sent $638.52 through Venmo and Pay Pal before realizing he had been the victim of a scam.
The Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
It was a busy weekend for local law enforcement.
An Afton man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon on an outstanding warrant charge.
Lucas W. Parton of Meadowbrook Road was located on Logistics Drive, then transported to the Greene County Detention Center without incident to await a Sessions Court hearing today.

A short vehicle pursuit and wreck on Baileyton Road Friday afternoon led to several charges against a Chuckey woman. A car operated by Aiden C. Robinson of Horse Creek Park Road failed to stop for blue lights and fled at a high rate of speed before crashing. While resisting arrest, had to be drive stunned with a taser.
She is charged with Violation of Probation, evading arrest and resisting arrest.

A Mosheim man faces several charges related to a Saturday incident. Jerry L. Frye of Magnolia Street was observed by a Deputy leaving Critters Corner Market around 10:00 pm. Having known the store had been closed since 2:00 pm, Frye was followed then pulled over on Magnolia Drive. Methamphetamine was found on his person during a pat down. A loaded pistol was also found in the car. He was taken into custody on charges of Speeding, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Manufacture, Delivery, Sale Methamphetamine and Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia.

A man was taken into custoday outside the Sheriff’s Office on Depot Street Friday afternoon.
Captain Nick Milligan was speaking with Steven A. Cutshall of Holly Creek Road and called another Deputy for assistance as Cutshall was acting in an eratic manner. He then ran from law enforcement and locked himself inside a car. After refusing to unlock the doors, the report says his mother showed up at the scene and unlocked the doors and at which time Cutshall was taken into custody. He was charged with Evading Arrest and Resisting Stop, Frisk, Halt, Arrest or Search.

A man wanted on four Violation of Probation warrants was arrested Sunday morning after a traffic stop on the Rogersville Road. Tony S. Martin of the Newport Highway was taken into custody without further incident.

A Greeneville man was taken into custody Friday afternoon following a warrant check at an Easterly Lane residence. Damiyon D. Phillips of Ross Boulevard was charged with Violation of Probation.

Failure to Appear warrants were also served Friday on Kipson Daddy of Morristown and on Saturday morning on Ronnie A. Crum of Chuckey Ruritan Road South.
