Two Vicky Street residents were arrested after reportedly fleeing from deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and agents from the Drug Task Force early Monday morning.
Around 12:15 AM, authorities got behind a black Mercedes car on Welcome Grove Road. The driver was seen crossing the center line four times. A traffic stop was initiated and the car stopped on Turner Hill Road. The driver, William Gudger, gave his license and registration. When the deputy went back to the patrol car to run his information, Gudger allegedly took off at a high rate of speed. The deputy ran back to the patrol car and a pursuit began. The vehicle was then boxed in on West Andrew Johnson Highway. Gudger was placed under arrest and a passenger, Paige Russell, was detained. Russell reportedly had a handful of cash totaling $186 and Gudger’s wallet contained nearly $2,000 in cash. There was
also a ripped open vacuum seal bag in the passenger floorboard.
A second vacuum seal bag was found laying on the side of the road near where the pursuit began that contained around 3.1 ounces of a substance identified as cocaine. Upon arriving at the Greene County Detention Center, Russell admitted to having drugs hidden in her body. Another half gram of cocaine was located.
Gudger was charged with evading arrest and Russell was charged with fabricating or tampering with evidence. Both were charged with manufacture, delivery or sale of a controlled substance.
