Prior to responding to the Tusculum Boulevard gas leak call on Tuesday morning, Greeneville firefighters had spent the early morning hours on a residential structure fire call.

Units were dispatched to vacant home at 1702 Moore Avenue near Rankin Drive just before midnight on Monday evening.

The next-door neighbor had called 9-1-1 after smelling smoke then noticing smoke coming from the house.

The fire was contained to the living area of the home with heat and smoke affecting other areas of the structure.

Investigation determined the fire began in the living area where a chair was close to a wall mounted stack heater.

Firefighters and other responders cleared the scene just before 2:00 am Tuesday.
