Two were arrested Sunday morning with several charges after several law enforcement agencies were involved in a vehicle pursuit.
Deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department near the Erwin Highway reportedly ran a tag on the vehicle leaving a known drug area and the registered owner showed to have previous drug related history. A traffic stop was attempted and the vehicle allegedly took off at 85 mph from the Erwin Highway into Washington County. The Tennessee Highway Patrol and Washington County Sheriff’s Department was requested for assistance.
Items were reportedly thrown out the vehicle before the vehicle made contact with spike strips set up at Spider Barnes Road by Washington County. More items were thrown out the window at that time and then the vehicle drove off toward Bacon Branch Road before pulling into a parking lot.
Washington County had to bust the driver’s window to detain the suspect. Both the driver Cecil Penley of Chuckey and passenger Mary Marshall of Limestone were removed from the vehicle and arrested. A K-9 was later requested to the scene and two baggies of Methamphetamine weighing 5g, a baggie of Marijuana weighing 2g, a grinder, cut straw, rolling papers, and more were located.
Suspect Cecil Penley was charged with felony evading, felony reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, sale/delivery schedule 2, simple possession of schedule 6, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on revoked license 3rd, and financial responsibility.
Suspect Mary Marshall was charged with her existing violation of probation, tampering with evidence, sale/delivery of schedule 2, simple possession of schedule 6, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
