A K9 was released to apprehend a suspect during a warrant check inside a home on Whirlwind Road Tuesday; two Greeneville men were arrested in the process after multiple people reportedly ran away from deputies when they arrived.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a residence after 9 PM for a warrant check on a suspect. Upon their arrival several people reportedly began running away, deputies also stated they could hear doors closed. Due to the wanted suspect having active warrants deputies entered the home through a back door. Several commands were made for the individuals to show themselves and K9 announcements were made. Three suspects came out at that time to avoid getting bit by the K9 and were detained.
More verbal commands were made and two female suspects were located in a bedroom, with one who allegedly would not tell deputies who else was in the home. In another bedroom suspect Stephen Hensley was located. When questioned about the wanted suspect he stated to officers no one else was inside the residence but another male was found hiding underneath clothes located within a trash bag.
Suspect Christopher Hinkle’s legs were seen hiding from under the trash bag; he reportedly refused to comply with demands and would not show his hands. After about a minute of deputies instructing Hinkle to cooperate a K9 was released and made contact with his calf area.
Hinkle had to be taken to the hospital after he was arrested. He was charged with evading arrest and Hensley was charged with false reports. The original suspect deputies were looking for, who was named in the report, did not appear to be in the residence at the time of the warrant check.
