Two people were arrested during a felony stop Wednesday afternoon who were allegedly on the run, according to the suspect.
According to the report, the Greeneville Police Department was on Cherry Street when an officer spotted a vehicle belonging to a suspect that had active warrants, known as Briana L. Shiflet of Greeneville. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle continued onto Chestnut Street, passing several places to pull over.
The driver finally came to a stop near the Greeneville High School. He was identified as Marcus A. Brown of Greeneville and Shiflet was in the passenger seat. Brown reportedly gave multiple reasons as to why they didn’t stop but also stated him and Shiflet were allegedly on the run. During a tow inventory a water bong, syringes, a baggy with residue, and less than a gram of Marijuana was found.
Both were charged and taken to the Greene County Jail. Brown was given charges including Felony Evading, Simple Possession of Schedule VI Drug, Possession of Unlawful Paraphernalia, and served his Violation of Probation Warrant. Shiflet was charged with Simple Possession of a Schedule VI Drug, Possession of Unlawful Paraphernalia, and served with her Failure to Appear and Violation of Probation Warrant.
Another passenger in the vehicle was released and was not charged.
