A message from Tusculum Police Department:
Halloween is happening and it is known for its fun, costumes, and candy. Several events are scheduled inside the City of Tusculum. Churches are sponsoring a fall festival and trunk or treats. They are Tusculum Baptist, (6pm – 8pm) Greenwood United Methodist (4:30 pm until dark) and Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church (6pm – 7pm).
The Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department, Tusculum Police and Tusculum Public Works will be handing out candy at the new Tusculum Fire Hall across from Doak Elementary School. This event begins at 5pm and will end at 8pm. Traffic will be heavy during the events and around the neighborhoods. The Tusculum Police Department will be strictly enforcing traffic laws.
For the safety of all Halloween participants, follow these tips:
Parents should walk with their children when trick-or-treating and stick to familiar neighborhoods.
Do not let them go alone. Teach children never to go into strangers’ homes or cars..
Choose light-colored costumes that are labeled “flame-retardant,” meaning the material will not burn.
Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
Walk on well-lit sidewalks and driveways with flashlights. Use crosswalks and never assume that vehicles will stop for pedestrians. Insist that trick-or-treaters walk, not run or ride bicycles at night.
