There will be a race for Commissioner after all in the City of Tusculum Municipal Election November 3.
Current commissioner Mike Burns submitted his qualifying papers to the election commission office on Wednesday as a write-in candidate. His actual name will not be on the ballot but will be listed as write-in along with the name of BJ Brooks.
The Greene County Election Commission reported August 20th that Brooks of Cumberland Drive was the only candidate to have filed a nominating petition to run for the spot. At that time, it was believed Brooks would be running unopposed, as Burns picked up a petition, but did not file by that deadline. Wednesday however, Burns turned in his qualifying papers to run as a write-in candidate.
Early voting for the November 3 state and federal general election will take place from October 14-29 at the Greene County Election Commission Office at 311 CCU Boulevard Suite 1. Early voting will be held from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 8:30 to noon on Saturdays.
The voter registration deadline for the election is October 5, and the absentee deadline is October 24.
