A traffic signal planned at the intersection of 11E and Serral Drive could potentially be complete by March of 2025.
There has been no construction on the signal yet due to delays on the equipment that is needed to install it. According to Town of Greeneville Planning Administrator Randy Davenport, supply chain issues are still a factor. The engineer on the project is able to move forward with some ground work, which includes construction on the foundation, drilling so poles can be installed, and wiring underground. Davenport updated the Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission on the traffic signal progress during a meeting on Tuesday.
The foundation poles can reportedly go about 10 feet deep and are a diameter of around four to five feet, four will be installed. Machines will boar under the highway to run the conduit so everything can connect and align the traffic signals. Once the mast arms supporting the signal heads arrive, the rest of the project can move forward.
Davenport said he anticipates the national chain restaurant opening this fall, Texas Roadhouse, will generate traffic. The Planning Department is looking at options to mitigate so the signal can be installed. Davenport said there will be further discussions.
