Seven weeks after calling for the resignation of then City Manager Todd Smith, which he did two days later, the Greeneville City Council Tuesday began the official search for his successor.
MTAS TO BE USED FOR THE SEARCH
The Town of Greeneville will use the services of MTAS (Municipal Technical Advisory Service). Pete Auger with MTAS will begin that work with one-on-one discussions with City Council members on their opinions of what is needed in a new City Manager.
PETE AUGER WITH MTAS
City Council opted for using MTAS at this time rather than hiring an outside firm at a cost of between twenty-five and thirty-five percent of the first-year salary for that position, which would be between 30 and 60 thousand dollars. MTAS services are essentially free, in that they are state funded through sales tax monies sent to Nashville then distributed to the University of Tennessee, which employees MTAS.
INTERIM CITY MANAGER OSBORNE NOW UNDER CONTRACT
Interim City Manager Cathy Osborne is now under contract for the position she assumed with an initial verbal agreement. The agreement has been signed, and her temporary compensation was effective on the date of the verbal commitment and the vote by Council to move her to Interim City Manager position. The interim pay is applied at the entry level for City Manager on the Town of Greeneville pay scale.
