A request by an East Gate Shopping Center business owner concerning use of feathered flags has led to the City Council requesting the City Attorney review the ordinance
Chris Nicely, who owns the Nicely Done Barber Shop at 811 Tusculum Boulevard, had requested the city look into possible changes in February and addressed the council again during their Tuesday meeting.

Chris Gunter, who owns Wheel Sports on East Bernard Avenue, also spoke in support of the feathered flags.
Lynn Broyles with the Greene County Anti-Drug Coalition and Jann Mirkov with Main Street: Greeneville both addressed City Council about the matter. Both inferred their concerns were not about limiting small business or interfering with commerce. Mirkov is the Executive Director of Main Street: Greeneville and would prefer such flags not be allowed in the downtown area.

Broyles concerns were more related to a matter she deals with on a daily basis, the safety of children, specifically as it relates to vaping, drug use and exposure. You can hear her thoughts on that tomorrow on The Week That Was on Radio Greeneville News.
