Three current members of the Greeneville City Board of Education attended their final meeting as board members on Tuesday, the same day Dr. Matthew Drinnon participated in his first in his official capacity as Director of Schools.
The elected terms of Crystal Hirschy, Cindy Luttrell and Dr. Craig Shepherd end this month.
During his Director’s Report near the end of the meeting, Dr. Drinnon said the following about each:
“Crystal Hirschy was elected to the Board of Education in 2020, a two-time graduate of Tusculum College. She holds degrees in athletic training and organizational management. Crystal earned the level 2 school board member designation from the Tennessee School Boards Association, demonstrating her commitment to professional development and effective board service.
Dr. Craig Shepard was elected to the Board of Education in 2014, and has served as vice chairman since 2019. He earned the level 4 school board member designation from the Tennessee School Boards Association, reflecting his commitment to effective board leadership.
Cindy Luttrell joined the Board of Education in 2003 and has served our district with distinction for more than 23 years. She served as vice chair from 2012 to 2019 and his board chair from 2019 to 2025. She earned the master level 5 school board member designation, highest honor awarded by the Tennessee School Boards Association.”

David Hollowell, Watson Leonard and Johnny Painter face no opposition in the election on Thursday and will take over those seats on the school board in September.
