The Greene County Sheriff’s Department reports that at 1:00 am today, Central Dispatch received an alarm call at the Dollar General located at 4660 107 Cutoff. Deputies arrived on scene a short time later to find that the store’s front door had been broken and someone had entered the store. A review of surveillance video showed 3 suspects, dressed in black, breaking the door and entering the store. A search was conducted of the immediate area but nothing was found.
Later, an alert citizen called Central Dispatch to report seeing suspicious males, dressed in black, walking on Camp Creek Road. Deputies responded and used a thermal imaging camera to locate two of the suspects from the store burglary. A third suspect was identified and apprehended as well.
All three suspects are juveniles, ages 15, 15 and 16. It was discovered that all three were from Free Will Baptist Family Ministries, a residential group home for juveniles in Camp Creek, and had left the facility undetected. All three were charged with burglary and will appear in Greene County Juvenile Court at a later date.
Sheriff Wesley Holt commends the deputies for their quick response and the use of available resources in their apprehension of the suspects. He also praises the call from the anonymous citizen. “This is a perfect example of ‘see something, say something’ by the caller,” said Sheriff Holt. “I thank that citizen for calling, allowing the deputies to expedite their efforts in the arrest of these three criminals.”
