The Tennessee State Legislature has approved a resolution declaring 9-1-1 dispatchers as First Responders.
David Hawk and Steve Southerland were were among co-sponsors of the bill in the House and Senate
in the past, dispatchers were listed as clerical workers.
But the resolution (posted below) acknowledges the critical role the dispatchers play in being the first line of communications for people needing assistance.
