According to the Greeneville/Greene County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, temperatures next week will be near normal for this time of year in our immediate area.
While temperatures have been lingering in the 90’s with heat index values reaching up to 100 or more in areas, temperatures will remain in the low 80’s next week. Most of the county has been in a D1-Moderate Drought status for the week. A portion of the county has been in a D2-Severe Drought (including Midway, Mosheim area, and toward the I-81 Corridor)
Rainfall has helped with the drought status in some areas and the forecast should continue to improve for rainfall and thunderstorms, according to EMA Director Heather Sipe.
Greene County Fair Forecast: Monday-Thursday
Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 82. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8pm. Low around 66. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 83. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 8pm and 2am. Low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms. High near 83. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms. Low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
