A Telford man was due in court today after fleeing from Washington County deputies and crashing his motorcycle.
According to a press release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were patrolling on Highway 107 when they observed a motorcycle driven by 34-year-old Christopher R. Cox traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, Cox failed to stop. Upon approaching the intersection of Highway 107 and Highway 81 South, deputies saw Cox’s motorcycle on its side and he was walking in the middle of the road.
Witnesses stated they were turning onto Highway 107 from Highway 81 South when Cox came traveling at a high rate of speed over the hill towards the intersection. Cox reportedly never attempted to yield at the stop sign, attempted to make a turn onto Highway 81 South at a high rate of speed, and flipped the motorcycle multiple times.
Deputies placed Cox under arrest and called for EMS. Cox refused transportation to the hospital and was instead transported to the Washington County Detention Center. He was charged with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, speeding, no driver’s license, motorcycle license violation, expired registration, running a stop sign, failure to exercise due care, and violation of financial responsibility.
