The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a structure fire reported on Bright Hope Road yesterday about 3 PM.
The property owners stated they had a crew working with them to do junk removal before renovating the property. 3 crew members were in the yard for their lunch break. Later the owners got into their vehicle attempting to get to another part of the property and noticed a small fire from the sunroom area.
According to the report, they attempted to use a fire extinguisher on trash that was piled in the room. After they believed it was out, they went around the house to check a different area of the property and saw a fire in the sunroom again. It reportedly spread rapidly and fully engulfed the residence.
The source of the fire was unknown at the time of the report. Damage was estimated at $300,000.
