More rain is in the forecast beginning in the early morning hours on Friday, with a line of strong to severe thunderstorms expected to sweep through the region in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Morristown.
There is still uncertainty for exact timing and how well the storms hold together, but damaging winds are increasingly likely area-wide, even outside of the path of the storms. The current best guess for the storms passing through East Tennessee is after 4 p.m. on Friday.
A High Wind Warning is in effect for Friday as widespread wind damage is possible from gusts that could reach 60 to 70 miles per hour. Isolated large hail is also possible, and areas that saw heavy rain begin overnight could see localized flooding from Friday’s storms.
