Strong storms will impact the southeastern part of Greene County through 5:30 this morning.
According to the National Weather Service, at 4:42 AM, a strong thunderstorm was tracked on the radar at 60 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph with a half inch of hail is possible.
Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.
Locations impacted include: Johnson City, Erwin, Banner Hill, Smoky Mountains-Big Creek, PineCrest, Unicoi, Del Rio, Waterville, Roane Mountain State Park, and Cedar Creek.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until these storms pass.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 6 AM for east Tennessee.
