The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported this afternoon the state’s unemployment rate for September was 3.2, up slightly from 3.1 percent in August.
Unemployment in the state first reached the historic low of 3.1 percent in July.
The number of new nonfarm jobs increased by 8,700 during the past month and increased by 54,000 in the last year.
The national unemployment rate for September 2023 was 3.8 percent, unchanged from the August rate.
County unemployment data for September will be released next week.
