The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported this afternoon that the state’s unemployment rate in September was 3.2 percent, up slightly from 3.1 percent in August.
The state saw a record-low rate of 3.0 percent in May, June and July.
Tennessee employers added 3,300 nonfarm jobs between August and September. The health care and social assistance sector accounted for the largest increase, followed by the retail trade sector and the professional, scientific, and technical services sector.
The national unemployment rate for September was 4.1 percent, down from 4.2 percent in August.
County unemployment data will be released next week.
