State Representative From Jonesborough Wants Cell Phone, Wireless Communications Device Policy For Students

Greeneville , Greene County Already Have Policies In Place

State Representative Rebecca Alexander, a Republican from Jonesborough, has introduced legislation aimed at reducing distractions in Tennessee classrooms by limiting the use of cell phones and other wireless communication devices during instructional time.

House Bill 932 requires local school boards and public charter schools to establish policies prohibiting cell phone use during class, alongside other wireless devices.

Alexander said that some Tennessee school systems have already implemented similar policies and reported significant benefits without hindering essential communication with parents.

Both the Greeneville and Greene County School Systems have such policies in place , as seen below:
