Mark Stapleton will be sworn in this afternoon in Morristown to fill the vacancy as the 3rd Judicial District Circuit Court Judge which covers Greene, Hawkins, Hamblen and Hancock Counties.
Stapleton’s appointment was made official earlier this week.
During a visit to the Radio Greeneville studios Tuesday, Stapleton said he looks forward to serving.

Circuit court judges hear civil and criminal cases and appeals of decisions from Juvenile, Municipal, and General Sessions Courts.
The swearing in ceremony today begins at 3:30 in the circuit courtroom in the new Justice Center in Morristown, which not only houses the Detention Center, but also the courtrooms, judges’ chambers, the offices of the court clerk, and community services. Construction of the new Justice Center cost $100 million. It opened in March.
