Roof replacement and painting at the historic St. James Episcopal Church will begin soon in downtown Greeneville.
A Certificate of Appropriateness for the project was approved by the Greeneville Historic Zoning Commission during their July meeting today in the G. Thomas Love Board Room at the GEA Building.
Church representative Laura Wilson told the commission an 80% grant from the Fox Foundation and a private donation will help pay for the improvements.
The church roof, at least 90 years old, will need to be replaced. Painting of the Parrish Hall side of the building and the parsonage will also be sanded where needed, primed and double coat painted. It will be matched to the color sheen of the new roof.

During the annual review of commission officer positions, Chairman Noah Young, Vice-Chair Peter Higgins and Secretary Dr. Jaime Parman-Ryans were reelected to those positions.
