The Greeneville Energy Authority says a squirrel was the cause of a morning power outage that affected around 1,000 people this morning.
The outage started around 7AM and affected customers on and around Irish Street, East McKee Street, Bernard Avenue, Main Street and South Main Street. The incident caused minor damage to the GEA electrical system, resulting in an outage that affected a three-phase circuit serving customers in the area.
Due to the damage, crews had to make repairs and restore multiple pieces of electrical infrastructure across several phases of the circuit. GEA line workers responded to make repairs and restore power. Several traffic lights in that area were also affected.
