Greeneville Public Works is busy this week, taking advantage of the sunshine and installing speed humps on various city streets. Signage is posted where work is going on, and motorists are cautioned of Public Works employees working in the roadways during the process.
This morning, work was on North Sunset Street, using the new asphalt truck purchased earlier this year with monies already included in the current year budget. The new vehicle will also allow for quicker response to, and repairing of potholes on city streets.
The first speed humps were installed on Carson and Forest Streets earlier this spring. Housley Avenue, Davis Street and Wesley Avenue were completed yesterday.
Each of these streets will have one to two speed humps placed in strategic areas by the Town of Greeneville Public Works department:
Carson Street, Forest Street, Housley Avenue, Austin Street, Davis Street, North Sunset Street, Wesley Avenue, South Lake Street, Railroad Street, Lynn Avenue, Scenic Drive, Grandview Drive, Oak Hills Parkway, Oak Grove Road, New Hope Road, and Sun Valley Drive are the highest priority streets. Additional streets needing speed humps will be identified in the future.
