A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect for Greene County from 10 AM Friday through 7 AM Sunday.
Meteorologist Jeremy Buckles with the National Weather Service in Morristown told Radio Greeneville News snow is expected to begin in Greene County around noon and will quickly accumulate. He said there may be a short period of time Friday afternoon that snow will mix with sleet and rain.
A total of 1-3 inches of snow is expected for Greene County, with 4-6 inches of accumulation in the mountains. Near the Interstate 81 corridor, a total of 4-6 inches of snow will be possible.
Buckles expects there will be significant impacts to travel, which will develop quickly Friday afternoon. He advised motorists to keep an eye on conditions and get home as quickly as possible.
Snow is expected to taper off around sunrise on Saturday, but there may be a few lingering flurries through the morning.
