A fundraiser for the annual Shop with a Cop program will be held Saturday, October 26 from 9 AM until 2 PM at Walmart on East Andrew Johnson Highway.
There will be officers and volunteers at each entrance of Walmart taking up donations, which will help provide Christmas presents to disadvantaged children.
Shop with a Cop is held each year on the first Saturday in December. The children are partnered with members of local law enforcement agencies who escort them as they shop. The children are referred to the program by local schools.
The program suffered a devastating loss in the death of the program’s founder Stewart Kilgore. Stewart’s wife Jean, who has been organizing the program for many years, has carried on his legacy by keeping the program active with the support of many volunteers.
