A shed on Jay Fannin Road property in Afton was destroyed by fire last night.
Units from the Tusculum and Camp Creek Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the 6:40 pm call on the Dean and Michelle Nava property. Neither were at home when the fire began. Neighbors called 9-1-1 when the fire was noticed.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known as there was no electricity to the shed, according to the report by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Janetha Gregory. The county fire investigator was notified.
A Polaris Ranger side-by-side was destroyed as was a John Deere riding mower, a DeWalt miter saw, two generators and hand tools.
The shed was valued at $5,900 with total loss estimated at just under $30,000.
