Several local elections were uncontested during Thursday’s County General Election.
Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison (R) won reelection with no challenger from the Democratic Party. Morrison received 7,493 complimentary votes.
David Beverly (R) was elected Greene County Sheriff in an uncontested race and received 7,962 complimentary votes.
Mark Britton (R) was elected Greene County Road Superintendent in an uncontested race as well and captured 7,796 complimentary votes.
Lori Bryant (R) was reelected County Clerk and Whitney Collins was reelected Circuit Court Clerk, both in uncontested elections. Nathan Holt (R) was also reelected County Trustee in an uncontested race, and Karen Ottinger (R) was reelected Register of Deeds with no opponent. Bryant received 8,014 votes in her race, Collins received 7,704, Holt garnered 7,825, and Ottinger received 7,944.
Each Greene County School Board up for election also saw uncontested races.
Independent candidate Stacey Franklin ran uncontested for the District 1 school board seat and received 959 complimentary votes Republican Larry Bible won an uncontested race for the District 3 school board seat with 1,262 votes. Independent candidate Minnie Blankenship Banks won the District 4 school board seat receiving 1,022 complimentary votes in an uncontested race. Republican candidates Gary Compton and Mark Rothe won uncontested races for the District 5 and District 6 school board seats, with Compton receiving 1,193 votes in District 5 and Rothe receiving 982 votes in District 6.
Each of the constable races in Greene County were uncontested, with Republican candidates winning election in all seven districts.
Uncontested winners were David Brown with 905 complimentary votes in the 1st District, Wayne Wilhoit with 1.157 complimentary votes in the 2nd District, Kenneth Bitner with 1,206 complimentary votes in the 3rd District, William Parton with 1,059 complimentary votes in the 4th District, Freddie Sams with 1,169 complimentary votes in the 5th District, Keith Self in the 6th District with 865 complimentary votes and Timothy Vonglis with 758 complimentary votes in the 7th District.
All municipal races in Greeneville and Mosheim were uncontested as well.
In the Town of Greeneville, Angelo Botta and Flint Carter won the two Greeneville City Council Ward 1 seats up for election with Botta receiving 827 complimentary votes and Carter receiving 924 complimentary votes.
Watson Leonard (R) ran uncontested for the at-large Greeneville City School Board seat and received 1,688 complimentary votes, while Johnny Painter (R) and David Hollowell (I) won the two Ward 2 City School Board seats up for election. Painter received 564 complimentary votes and Hollowell received 558 complimentary votes.
John Honeycutt won reelection as Water Commissioner in an uncontested race, receiving 1,707 votes.
In Mosheim, Marc Campbell and Matthew Solomon won the two Board of Mayor and Aldermen seats up for election in uncontested races. Campbell received 155 votes and Solomon received 155 votes.
No candidates filed for the two Board of Mayor and Alderman seats up for election in the Town of Baileyton. Therefore, the remaining members of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider a resolution to declare vacancies on the board, and then move to appoint two members to the vacant seat. Those wishing to serve on the board must be 18 years of age and a resident of Baileyton for at least two years.
