Three fires were reported on Wednesday with the last one just before midnight.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to a structure fire around 3:30 PM on the 300 block of Trails End Lane. Upon arrival, various fire departments were allegedly working on the active fire. The report states fire investigators arrived on the scene and deemed the fire non-criminal. They said the fire likely started from an electrical device on the kitchen table.
Deputies responded to the 2000 block of East Fork Road just before 5 PM on Wednesday. A deputy spoke with a victim of the home who said a small bucket of mulch caught fire on his porch. The Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department arrived and put out the fire. The damage was reportedly minimal and contained on the corner of the porch.
Another fire was reported on Old Lane Road in Mosheim around midnight. According to the report, a deputy spoke with the victim, who said a couple of hours before the fire, there was a pop noise coming from outside. The victim did not see any issues at the time of the noise.
A witness told the deputy she saw a bright light outside her window at the time of the fire. The witness believed it was a car turning around when she looked outside but then discovered a barn to be on fire. Two push mowers, ammunition, and miscellaneous hand tools were located inside the barn. Fire investigators were called to the scene. No further information was provided.
No injuries were reported in either of the reports.
